While further supply is scheduled to arrive in September, due to current limited stock, the vaccine will be restricted to Victorians who meet the eligibility criteria set out by the Department of Health.
Melbourne Sexual Health Centre director Professor Christopher Fairley said that during this initial stage it was vital the most at-risk members of the community were given priority.
“During the initial rollout, our team will identify those with the highest risk of infection as they attend the clinic for their regular sexual health treatment and screening and offer them the vaccine,” he said.
“As more becomes available in the near future, this process will be expanded and appointments scheduled.”
Alternative vaccination locations include Thorne Harbour Health, Northside Clinic, Collins Street Medical Centre, and Prahran Market Clinic.
For those who are eligible and reside in regional Victoria, vaccination may be accessed through a regional local public health unit (see locations here).
