Costs
Our services are free for everyone, including international visitors. No health insurance is necessary.
If you are referred to a service outside the Centre for further testing, some costs may apply.
Medicare
Bring your Medicare card, if you have one.
If you do not have a Medicare card, you can still access free sexual health care at Melbourne Sexual Health Centre.
Where else can I be tested?
Get an STI checkup or treatment for STIs at our partner GP clinics.
Is our service right for you?
Melbourne Sexual Health Centre provides full-time, free sexual health services to the people of Victoria.
We provide STI testing and treatment and HIV care.
Being a public health service, sometimes you need to wait to see and nurse or doctor, and you can't always come in at a time that suits you. If this is worries you, then you could choose to see a general practitioner (GP) instead. There are some GPs who specialise in sexual health.
You may need to pay for GP services, so call the practice to find out what that cost is before you go. If you're from overseas, and you have health insurance, your insurance may cover some or all of the cost. Check with your insurance company to find out.
What to bring
Bring your Medicare card if you have one. You may need to wait outside if the clinic is busy, so dress appropriately for the weather.
