This study explored behavioural and biological factors which may be associated with repeat infection.

Participants with chlamydia were invited for repeat testing after 3 months and to complete a survey at 4 months.

Our study found that positive re-tests were more common among men who have sex (MSM) with men than heterosexuals. Treatment failure was more common in MSM with rectal chlamydia, reinforcing concerns about azithromycin treatment failure.
