This study used blood from 79 individuals with HIV and blood from 229 individuals without HIV to measure the function of the special immune cells (T cells) that HIV attacks. The study tested a new efficient assay to test the function of the T cells.

The study found the assay to be successful. This more efficient assay will help understand how to improve the function of the immune system in individuals with HIV.
