Asymptomatic patients

When an asymptomatic patient presents to you for a sexual health checkup, consider testing for the following:

  • Chlamydia - for all sexually active people <30 years as well as anyone who identified themselves at risk
  • Hepatitis B, HIV and syphilis - for people who are from a high risk population group
  • Gonorrhoea - for all sexually active people <30 years as well as anyone who identified themselves at risk

Refer to our testing guidelines for details about the tests recommended.

Symptomatic patients

When a patient presents with genital or other symptoms, you can refer to our:

  • Interactive STI Tool - to help you determine what testing is required, as well as how to deal with some common symptoms in both women and men
  • Treatment guidelines - for detailed treatment guidelines for STIs and sexual health conditions

For people living with HIV, refer to a specialist HIV practitioner and S100 prescriber for ongoing management.
