What we do
We offer STI testing and treatment for people who identify as trans or gender diverse, non-binary or anywhere on the gender spectrum.
How we support you
Our staff endeavour to stay informed and up to date in all areas related to gender and sexuality. We aim to provide safe and non-judgemental care options.
Getting an STI checkup
Whether you make a booking or walk in and wait, usually you and the health care professional will have a chat about your sexual history. We will ask you to share some information about your gender identity so we can use correct pronouns and help you feel safe and respected.
We also may need to ask about your genitals so we know what tests to recommend and what kind of samples we need to collect. Remember, we are not trying to be nosy or judgmental, we are trying to get the information we need to provide you with the best health care.
When we ask about your sexual history, we usually ask everyone about:
- if you have any symptoms
- the number of sexual partners you have had
- the gender identity of your sexual partners
- what kind of sexual activities you have been engaged in
- whether you use condoms or not
In a full sexual health check up, usually a blood and urine sample will be taken. Swabs may be taken from your mouth and genital sites as necessary.
We aim to provide safe and non-judgemental care options.
