Tai
Counsellor
Tai Jones is an experienced social work counsellor specialising in the management of anxiety and depression, PTSD, anger and stress management, grief and loss, youth and adolescence mental health, adjustment issues, AOD and addiction support, homelessness navigation, coming out support, family/relationship counselling and conflict/crisis management.
Tai has worked as a counsellor for the University of Sydney, Headspace, Dianella Community Health, St Vincent’s Hospital and YMCA disability services.
Tai is formally trained in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness strategies, motivational interviewing (MI) and Interpersonal therapy. Tai is a qualified social worker where he practices from a strengths-based approach and works from a client-centred model. Tai believes in assisting clients to become resilient and to eventually becoming self-motivated to improve their general wellbeing.
Tai is a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and has been granted the Accredited Mental Health Social Worker status (AMHSW) which is Medicare endorsed for MBS billing.
What we do
Our counsellors provide supportive and non-judgemental short term therapy to individuals and couples. Our counsellors can help with a range of issues, including:
- Counselling for people with sexually transmissible infections
- Counselling and support for people living with HIV
- Appropriate referral to specialist services for those experiencing challenges which require long term or specialist therapy, such as chronic pain, ongoing relationship difficulties, domestic violence, physical or sexual abuse
- Crisis management
- Grief and bereavement
- Relationship difficulties
- Exploration of sexuality
- Substance use and alcohol use challenges
- Sexual dysfunction
- Adjustment following diagnosis of HIV and STIs
- Depression and anxiety
- Loneliness and isolation
- Self-confidence and self-esteem
- Psychoeducation around safe sex practices and STIs
Our counsellors are all professionally supported and their practice is peer reviewed.
Who we care for
Our counsellors assess anyone who is referred to the service. We discuss our counselling options with clients.
